Blue Iron specializes in the installation of sheet pile and has an extensive fleet of equipment that makes us one of the industry leaders in this field. Blue Iron has the capability to install sheet pile utilizing vibratory, impact or silent piling methods. The method of installation is determined by which equipment will be most productive penetrating the native soil conditions, required equipment setback & project environmental constraints such as noise and vibration.
What is Sheet Pile Used for?
Sheet pile is widely used for shoring systems in high ground water, seawalls, retaining walls, basement walls for parking structures, cut off walls and drainage canal walls. Sheet pile are capable of cantilevering for excavation support but can also include bracing and/or tie backs to allow deeper excavations.
The major benefits of utilizing sheet pile include but are not limited to:
- Sheet piles are manufactured with interlocking joints virtually cutting off an groundwater from entering the project excavation.
- Sheet pile interlocks can be seam welded after installation to provide a permanent water cut off and can be used as the permanent wall reducing project budget, reducing dewatering discharge and reducing schedule durations.
- Sheet pile have a long life longevity and can be coated to reduce any corrosion.
- Shafts can be excavated in the “wet” and resist hydrostatic pressure eliminating the need for exterior dewatering.
